I have lost my ever-loving mind

I'm convinced of it.

I have been looking for another horse. One that was nice and gentle, calm and patient. One that was about 10-14 yrs old, color doesn't really matter to me but I do love the regular bay horses. A horse between 14 and 15 hands. One that doesn't mind leaving the herd and will think I'm their best friend.

A friend of mine bought a colt a while back and, yes you guessed it, I fell in love w/ that lil sucker. She would be Peanut. She is an almost 2 year old quarter horse filly. She is very gentle and loving. She follows me around the pen quite a bit when I go out to visit. We go for walks and do some practice stuff like backing up, picking up hooves, getting over lil spooky things and have a good time together. She is very calm and patient and I hope we are becoming best friends.

I am not going to have her ridden until next spring when she is a 3 year old. I've had some good friends that has had lots more experience with horses than I say that they would have her started training as a 3 year old. They think the horse's mind is stronger for it and it will give her a bit more time to grow. She turns 2 at the end of April and I believe she is a bit under 14 hands now. My friend helped me *string measure* her and it said she should be between 14.2 and 15 hands when she is done growing.

P is having a great time playing w/ her too. She has been such a positive influence so far. My friend is also our farrier and he messed w/ her the other day when he was putting shoes on our other horses. I think she done really well. I'm unsure if she had experienced her feet being trimmed or not. She done really well on the front ones but was uncomfortable w/ her back legs being pulled that far behind her. P has been working w/ her on that and she is doing much better just in the length of a few days.

Yep, in horse love I am...

...and it continues

We are plugging along w/ the remodling. We aren't taking out any walls or anything, just replacing the flooring and painting. The house looks so different now and I'm thrilled.

Tired but thrilled. lol

Sun, dog food and horses

Supposed to get a bit warmer here today, mid 50's I think. I'm so looking forward to it. I hope the sun makes an appearance too. The next few days are supposed to be wonderful!

My bf is supposed to step on my mare, Sunny, sometime today. We are getting new flooring in the kitchen too. An exciting day all around I think. He was going to play around w/ Sunny yesterday but it was rainy and cold. She doesn't like to be wet in the first place and if he had messed w/ her, I'm sure her attitude would have been far less than perfect...lol

We got some new dog food for the heathens. They all like it but Giz is allergic to quite a few different foods. Voila, he is allergic to this one too. So back to the regular food he goes. It is quite nice not to have to worry about going to classes this week, spring break! I haven't ever done it before, but I'm thinking that I will take a class in the summer. It will be an algebra class and I just don't want to forget the stuff that I'm learning now and be struggling the next semester.

Well, time to get the dogs fed and the kitchen ready for the new floors!

It's quite cold this morning. Chance of freezing rain for tonight. Yay! *grumble*

Later this week it's supposed to be about 74 degrees I cannot wait!

Floors!

Life has kicked in high gear around here. We are getting new flooring in the house and I'm SOOO excited! We are pulling out all the carpet and putting down laminate, vinyl and tile. The tile is done and today we are starting on the hallway. I decided that we should prolly paint while the baseboards and all of that is removed. Would be much easier I think.

This coming week is my spring break from college so it is hitting just right and it's supposed to be beautiful! Hopefully we will get a bit of riding in too. I have been discouraged since the issues w/ Dusty and my cousin let me borrow one of his horses. I'm not sure what we are going to do w/ Dusty but there is no hurry to decide. We have decided to play w/ him some on the ground and see what he can do there.

I tell ya though, I would much rather be running around after the cows and horses than painting today! LOL
