I have lost my ever-loving mind

I'm convinced of it.

I have been looking for another horse. One that was nice and gentle, calm and patient. One that was about 10-14 yrs old, color doesn't really matter to me but I do love the regular bay horses. A horse between 14 and 15 hands. One that doesn't mind leaving the herd and will think I'm their best friend.

A friend of mine bought a colt a while back and, yes you guessed it, I fell in love w/ that lil sucker. She would be Peanut. She is an almost 2 year old quarter horse filly. She is very gentle and loving. She follows me around the pen quite a bit when I go out to visit. We go for walks and do some practice stuff like backing up, picking up hooves, getting over lil spooky things and have a good time together. She is very calm and patient and I hope we are becoming best friends.

I am not going to have her ridden until next spring when she is a 3 year old. I've had some good friends that has had lots more experience with horses than I say that they would have her started training as a 3 year old. They think the horse's mind is stronger for it and it will give her a bit more time to grow. She turns 2 at the end of April and I believe she is a bit under 14 hands now. My friend helped me *string measure* her and it said she should be between 14.2 and 15 hands when she is done growing.

P is having a great time playing w/ her too. She has been such a positive influence so far. My friend is also our farrier and he messed w/ her the other day when he was putting shoes on our other horses. I think she done really well. I'm unsure if she had experienced her feet being trimmed or not. She done really well on the front ones but was uncomfortable w/ her back legs being pulled that far behind her. P has been working w/ her on that and she is doing much better just in the length of a few days.

Yep, in horse love I am...
